GambleAware has unveiled a powerful display in London that is made up of 85,000 poker chips showing a sad child and captioned “Gambling Can Grip Anyone.” Each poker chip represents a child between the ages of 11 and 17 years old in Great Britain who currently suffers from gambling-related harm:

The addiction organization wants to spark a nationwide conversation and lower the stigma associated with talking about gambling-related struggles, as well as curtailing marketing messages.

It cited new research about the prevalence of gambling ads, with 31% of people recalling seeing such a promotional message before they turned 17, and 62% of the general public remarking that these marketing messages are “everywhere” these days.
